Brow Lift Surgery Explained
The forehead is a very prominent feature that contributes greatly to the overall balance of your face. What Is a Brow Lift?
A brow lift is a procedure that raises the eyebrows to lift sagging skin and reduce wrinkles, improving the overall appearance of the forehead, brow, and area around the eyes.
It is also one of the facial feminization procedures used to make the face more feminine. Female eyebrows are higher, thinner, and more curved than male eyebrows. A brow lift makes a big difference in giving the face a more feminine appearance.
Types of Brow Lifts
There are two main types of brow lifts: open/classic brow lifts and endoscopic brow lifts.
Open Brow Lift
Open brow lifts, also called coronal or classic brow lifts, involve making a very large incision across the top of the forehead (sometimes behind the hairline). The surgeon then peels the skin and muscles off the forehead, trims away excess skin, pulls it up to lift it, and reattaches it, realigning muscles if needed. Dr. Zukowski does not perform this type of brow lift because it severs nerves, arteries, and veins. The scar it creates is also 8 – 10 inches longer than the scar he creates in an endoscopic brow lift.
Endoscopic Brow Lift
An endoscopic brow lift is done by making several small incisions and using the endoscope, a lighted fiberoptic camera, to access and observe the operative area. Endoscopic techniques avoid some of the complications of open techniques such as permanent hair loss, longer scars, severed sensory nerves, permanent numbness, or permanent sinus damage.
This technique is newer, safer, minimally invasive, and leaves less collateral damage. The end result is less risk, less bruising, and a quicker recovery.

The Type of Brow Lift That Dr. Zukowski Performs
Dr. Zukowski performs Endoscopic brow lifts for all Type I, II and III designated foreheads and has been doing so for 24 years. He does two types: pure endoscopic brow lift and endoscopic biplaner brow lift. The pure endoscopic brow lift involves the smallest amount of incisions but does not provide a scalp advancement. What is Forehead Feminization?
Endoscopic forehead feminization is reshaping the entire forehead by 3-D reduction of the bone to make it conform more to feminine standards of appearance.
Genetic females generally have shorter foreheads than genetic males. Male foreheads are often longer, wider, and sloped. Male foreheads also have a heavy ridge of bone just above the eyes called the orbital rim.
To feminize a masculine forehead, it’s necessary to both reshape the entire forehead and aggressively contour the entire orbital rim.
How It’s Done
