How to Prepare for a Smooth and Swift Recovery
Once your surgery is complete, your time with the Zukowski Center is far from over! Dr. Zukowski, his nurses, and his Executive Surgical Coordinator will communicate realistic expectations for your recovery period to you. Throughout your plastic surgery recovery, they will stay in close contact with you to ensure that you are progressing well.
The most important thing to keep in mind is that the recovery period varies between patients based on each person’s specific procedure(s), age, medical history, medications, physical makeup, and other factors.
However, the greatest factor in determining the length of the plastic surgery recovery period is your attention to detail in following your post-operative instructions.
General Standards for Healing from Cosmetic Surgery
- 25% of the healing occurs by 3 months
- 50% of the healing occurs by 6 months
- 75% of the healing occurs by 9 months
- 100% of the healing occurs by 12 months*
*With major chin, jaw, and masseter muscle procedures, you can see the full changes progress up to 16 months.
Not to fear – You can still find yourself looking good 3 to 6 weeks after full FFS procedures!
