Preoperative Surgery Information

Preparing for Surgery

Dr. Zukowski believes that well-informed patients have a more pleasant experience, an easier recovery, and a better outcome. He makes sure that all of his patients understand what is expected of them for their upcoming surgery. He is also completely honest about what you can realistically expect to achieve with cosmetic surgery.

Preoperative Surgery Process

After you’ve had your free consultation, received your quote, and decided that you would like to proceed with cosmetic surgery, you will come in for preoperative surgery appointments. Out of town patients can have these appointments over the phone and in the office the day before surgery.

The number of preoperative surgery appointments you will need depends on your unique situation and how many questions you have as your surgery approaches. Cosmetic surgery is a huge, life-changing endeavor, and Dr. Zukowski wants you to feel informed and comfortable with your decision.

All patients will need a final, in-person preoperative appointment before their surgery to solidify their preoperative evaluation and instructions:

  • If you are coming from out of town, you will meet with Dr. Zukowski and his team a day or two in advance of any procedure.
  • If you live in the local area, you will pre-admit with Dr. Zukowski and his team 3-4 weeks before your surgery.

In this appointment, Dr. Zukowski will fully explain the procedure(s) again and answer any questions you have. He and his team will ensure that you know what is expected of you, how to prepare for your surgery, and how to be prepared to manage your recovery.

If you are undergoing full Facial Feminization Surgery procedures, you will receive an extensive DVD format FFS success handbook that will help to prepare you for the surgery and plan your aftercare. It also contains information for your travel to and around Chicago. This handbook and DVD is given to local patients and mailed to out of town patients in advance of their surgery.

After your surgery, Dr. Zukowski and his team maintain the same level of contact with you in the postoperative period.

I think the reason you should choose Zukowski is … the way he attends and sees to his patients, and follows up on their stay, their recovery and, well, everything … he’s always very professional … he’s straight about results (never lies or manipulates you to believe you can get amazing results if it’s not possible) and you always know what you’re in for … It’s the second time now I’ve had surgery with him and I’m thrilled about the results.
