How to Prepare for Surgery
Whether you are local or will be traveling from afar, there are important details that will make preparing for surgery and recovering much easier for you. We advise you to pay attention to these details and make plans well in advance of your surgery.
Absolutely, Positively, Do Not Forget
- If coming from out of town, get a room reservation ASAP.
If you stay in a hotel that is not on our list, Dr. Zukowski will be unable to come to your hotel and you will need to come see him at the center for your postoperative care. We will send our list of hotels to you after your consultation. - Get your medical clearance completed and returned to Dr. Zukowski.
No medical clearance = no surgery. - Stop taking prohibited medications no less than 14 days prior to surgery.
Failure to stop in the time specified could be hazardous to your health. - Stop using all tobacco products no less than 21 days prior to surgery.
If you are still using tobacco, your surgery will be cancelled. - Arrange for a caregiver.
This can be a relative, friend, partner, or an independent contractor suggested by The Zukowski Center. - Do not forget your caregiver in your travel plans.
